The AGM is looming! The time is approaching when we need to think about who we would like to be shaping the direction of CDAS. If you would like to contribute to the club or know someone you think would be an asset to the club get your nominations ready. All positions on the Committee will be up for grabs along with the General Member positions. Other tasks that will be allocated to general members include CDAS Webmaster and Tank Talk Editor. The Committee positions are:
President: Chairs all Committee and General Meetings Speaks on behalf of the Society and represents it in relations with other persons, Organisations, Government bodies or designate another Member of the Committee to represent him on such occasions Have a true and correct copy of the email addresses of CDAS Members and be responsible for notifying all Members of meetings May sign all documents which require their signature as official head of the Society Open and close all club meetings Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Vice President: Assist the President in the execution of the duties of President and to act as President in the absence of that officer) Carry out the administration of the Auction and Table Shows) Assist where necessary in any other part of the running of the club) Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Secretary: Have custody of all such documents of the Society as the Committee shall require (be the digital archive Keep full and correct minutes of all Committee and General Meetings of the Society Attend to such correspondence as the Committee shall require Be responsible for the publication and sending out of the monthly newsletter of the Society Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Treasurer: Receive all monies payable to the Society and pay the same into an account to the credit of the Society as the Committee shall approve Make payments as authorised by the Committee Keep correct accounts and books showing the financial affairs of the Society Submit a report of the financial affairs of the Society at each Meeting of the Committee and at the AGM Purchase such wares as the Committee shall approve for resale to Members of the Society Make up the annual statement, accounts and balance sheet of the Society to the end of September each year which shall, after audit, be circulated to Members Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Membership Officer: Have custody of all membership information and new membership packs Be open and approachable in regards to membership enquires and transactions Attend to all facets of membership (other than receiving monies) Keep a register of the names and addresses of Members and be responsible for notifying all Members of meetings and subscription renewals Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Librarian: Encourage the use of the Society library by Members of the Society Ensure that the library is available for the use of Society Members at regular GMs of the Society Maintain records of borrowing by Members and ensure that books are returned promptly Recommend to the Committee publications for purchase by the Society for the library Maintain a catalogue of items held by the library Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Breeders' Awards Chairperson: Encourage the breeding of fish by Members of the Society Maintain records of fish breeding by Society Members Administer the Breeders' Awards Programmes in accordance with the By-Laws of the Society Present awards for achievement in fish breeding to Members of the Society Preside over any sub-committee which may be established in relation to fish breeding Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
The General Member postions are:
Publicity Officer: Endeavour to ensure that participants in the aquarium hobby within Canberra and surrounding districts are made aware of the existence of the Society and how the Society may be conducted Ensure that all GMs and other activities of the Society receive widespread publicity within guidelines approved by the Committee Manage and gain new sponsors for the club Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Webmaster: Be responsible for the online publication and maintenance of the Society website Be able to competently edit HTML/produce website pages via software Be responsible for the online content and ensure nothing defamatory/illegal is published Encourage Members of the Society to contribute material to the Society Website and journal (TankTalk) May with the approval of the Committee correspond with kindred organisations with a view to the mutual exchange of information Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Tank Talk Editor: Be responsible for the publication and distribution of the journal of the Society, which shall normally be published quarterly Encourage Members of the Society to contribute material to the Society journal May with the approval of the Committee correspond with kindred organisations with a view to the mutual exchange of journals Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
Junior Representative: Ensure that the Committee duly considers the opinions and rights of junior Members of the Society Assist in the activities of the Society Assist is setting up and cleaning up after all club meetings (where applicable)
